This in regards to a post Jordan had on his blog.
I agree one hundred percent life is not fair (obviously my reasoning shall be different than his). I mean come on... have you not always wanted something that someone else had? Or wish you could do something someone else could? It's human nature to desire such things; be it from jealousy, for better good, for better evil, or even just materialistic reasons.
I know I have... as a matter of fact I do it daily... which I'm sure most of you do as well.
Someone walks by you, you wish you had an article of clothing they had.
You go to the mall and wish you could have something from a store but know you don't have the money to buy it.
A couple walks by you seemingly happy and great... and you want that too.
The world is full of these seemingly wanted needs... and no one will ever satisfy these materialistic things because without them? (In my opinion of course) we would lose a lot of our drive of life.
To support this... I'll use the following as an example:
You're walking through a store and you really like this new... say... computer. Now you don't have a job but have no other means of paying for it (minus the option of stealing which I don't recommend lol) so you cannot get it. What do you do? You get yourself a job, be it part time full time or even a deal you strike with your parents. You decide to GET the money in order to get that computer. That's the drive that makes this world go round.
As far as the relationship one goes... you see what other people have... naturally it can make you sad and depressed at points... but the drive here is you really look for someone that you can truely be happy with, not settle for anything less. The drive is to find the closest thing to perfection in your eyes. Hence: dating.
But back to the original point. Life can be very daunting. It sucks a lot of the time. Too much drama... too much sorrow and pain. But can you really say with all your heart... that those happiest times make up for all the bad?? I know I can.
I hold many memories and dreams close to my heart... that no matter what the problem or pain, it can make me content inside.
So life may not be unfair...
But you just gotta make due and don't squander the good!

So apparently I was hired under the idea that I was going to be working part time at Sport Chek.
Well...
That's a lie... I work 39 hours next week! HOLY SHIT! Actually I'm pretty excited.
Even though I'm dead tired... I had a really good first day. Met some awesome people... some really weird people... some singers and dancers who like Justin Timberlake...
And I'm officially the girl with the island
"Could Island Girl please page 224, Island Girl 224?"
Yup. It's gonna be a sweetass job if I do say so myself!
That... and apparently I'm second in command as far as the front desk goes...
That also slightly scares me. Yikes!
But I get to wear the Sport Chek jersey! Oh baby! lol.
So everything else in my life is going awesomely... things are finally straightening out... friends are where and doing what they should be...
I'm happy...
I know I complained a lot last entry... because well to be honost I still feel that way...
But now at least I'll have work and all the fun times and drama's that place is going to have...
Yee-haw!
Well.
Now then. This weekend? Was definately a week of firsts:
My first roadtrip
My first legal drink
My first stay at Paradise Resort
My first theifing of a highway sign
My first for a ton of things...
The weekend was absolutely amazing... everyone got along... nothing bad happened... The lake was as beautiful as usual.
But I will diverge from this conversation to bring my newest conversation:
What Do You Do
When You Realize You've Grown Up/When Things Start To Change...
Last night I had a really hard time coming to terms with a lot of things...
I know now that the reality that I held so dear has done a complete 180. The people I care about most in my life are slowly moving on with their lives... getting careers... getting engaged... having kids.
Yes... we all know I have growing up issues... I hate change... and I especially hate the idea of friends just... forgetting the past.
For example. This coming summer is going to be dramatically different then the last.
Allie? May not be down. Sean? May not be down. I'll be down there... but I'll be working... Kaylee will come visit... but in the long run? I cried last night because I realized that my magical summers in Minaki, those carefree days of hanging out with some of the people I care about most (and still do) have come to an end. Life and reality finally got in the way.
As far as the times here in Saskatoon... we're all so busy with jobs and school that sometimes we forget people... and I don't want to forget people.
What happens when we all get where we are going? Do we simply forget about some people? Some of those friends whom we considered our best... do we just leave them behind in the dust? Do we make an effort to remain friends, because to you the friendship you hold with that person means almost the difference between life and death to you?
I hope so. There's a few people in this world that I would take a bullet for... fewer who really understand me... and one who knows me like a book. If I lose contact with any one of those people.... I don't know what I would do.
So here's to those whom I really will remain friends with over the years... though our memories will change and grow with our age... may we be able to share a drink and laugh about the good old days... maybe as our kids play much like we used to...
I pray with all my heart that is how it ends up...
At least as far as the lake goes...
I don't ever want to lose you guys...

As much as this weekend rocked...
I'll talk about it later.
To be honost? I don't feel like talking for once in my life...

Alrighty!
Kaylee and I head out tomorrow morning at 8 o' clock!
Have a great few days!
Talk to you when I get back!
Winnipeg! Minaki! HERE I COME! =D
Gonna be the best trip... EVER.
So tomorrows the big day!
Kaylee and I are driving out to Winnipeg. The first roadtrip of my life and I couldn't be happier with the destination. I mean I get to go back home, go back to the lake, and show off the two most important places in my life to a best friend! How much better can it get?!
It CAN!
We're going to the Science Gallery (I know that sounds lame) but it's God-Damned incredible. Seriously. The stuff you get to play with there? Blow your mind. No joke.
We're gonna go to the zoo... see the polar bears and cheetahs and all that stuff cuz that Zoo is awesome... and a trip to the IMAX! Plus some awesome shopping... plus staying in Paradise with my best friends in a four room, two bathroom kitchenette suite for only $100.00! (Oh... and a personal dock) and a final night on highcliffe when hopefully the sun will shine through and we'll have the sweetest display of northern lights.
F I'm excited. So excited. I'm all a twitter.
Plus dinner with the families and such...
I couldn't ask for a better weekend. So here's hoping that everything goes well and safely!!!
Talk to you all when I get home with ALL the details and pictuers!!!!

Well let's do a long story short.
Today? Breakfast at Grainfields with Janine and Aaron. Past the hilarious display of anger/bitterness/sarcasim and pure hatred... we had a good time (what can I say... we're not morning people) After? I had my interview at Sport Chek. I think it went well... I mean I've never done an interview before... so I don't know what to compare it to... I didn't leave crying so I'm assuming that's a good sign lol. After that we raced around the city, from Future Shop to Midtown and back again. Then coffee with the family. Now... here's the kicker to this part of the story.
You know in the movies when some dog owners leave their dogs for a while and they get upset and tear the place apart? Well... let's be thankful we isolated them to one room. I walked into my parents room and I couldn't believe it. They uprooted every floor plant... knocked over a lamp... and completely shredded the comforter on the bed. I mean DESTROYED. Dirt, stuffing and leaves were EVERYWHERE. I couldn't even begin to think of how much fun they had doing it... and honostly I couldn't help but laugh. It was just so over the top... But we all blame ourselves. They've been missing their walks so they've been getting bored. They're young and need entertainment. So... its a 50-50 split of blame.
Tonight? Dinner and who knows... all I do know is I am going to withdrawl from my laptop. I had to send it in for 3-4 weeks to get my screen fixed that got broken at University last year. I miss my baby! AHHH all my music and such. *tear* Oh well... could be worse... I don't know how.. but it could be...
And what the hell is with this weather... someone wanna turn off the faucet up there?

So.
I recognize that my last few entries have basically sucked and most certainly didn't have any depth to them. Thing is, my life lately doesn't have any depth. It's pretty straight forward. Nothing special, no special or unique thoughts to share with the world. I'm sure a time will come when I can find something that irritates me or rubs me the wrong way that I can rant and rave about. But so far?
I'm content. I haven't been this content in a really long time.
So yesterday I went job hunting, put in about 6 applications, got a call back within about 15 minutes lol. But I'm having second thoughts on working at that place. To be honost I'm not even sure why I applied...
None the less I'm going to apply at one more place today so hopefully I'll have a job waiting for me by the time I get back from Winnipeg.
That whole ordeal is finally getting settled in... I finally get the roadtrip I've always wanted! With two of the people I care about most! (Not that I don't care about the rest of you! =P)
While in Winnipeg we decided to do the typical sight seeing things, going to the IMAX, the Science Gallery (that place has hundreds of hands on fun things you get to play with... its a childs dream and and mine too lol) and the Assinaboine Zoo. They just recently got some cheetahs that are only going to be there for a little while longer! Awe!
And the fact that we can stay at the lake for a little while will be freaking sweet. God I'm so excited.
Our doggies are doing well, they never cease to make us laugh or smile throughout the day. For example.. just this morning before I sat down to write this, my Mom called me into the kitchen and opened the back door.. only to discover Jazz (the husky) standing on top of the patio table on the deck. Just... standing there. Haha Mom and I were like.. What T F....
But other then that? I've been sleeping in
way to much... and doing nothing at all. I know for those of you with jobs and school that it sounds really nice? Well after the 2nd week of basically doing nothing... it's starting to get boring... so I'm really excited to be getting out of the house on a regular basis.

A call back in less the 20 minutes... I didn't even manage to get home...
That's pretty sweet.
Let's talk business lol.
Tuesday, 12 September 2006
We have a car...
Now we have a boat...
All we need?
September 22nd to come sooner!
YAY!
=]
On another note... to Marina: I'm so sorry to hear about Blue. That's a horrible thing to have happen... and we'll be here for support...
Believe me... I know how hard it is to lose a best friend...
RIP Blue
We love you!

Happy Birthday Nikita
I Miss You.
Saturday, 9 September 2006
Few quick thoughts I'll share...
Sara - If you need anything you know you can call me and i'll be there in a second. I understand that anything I say really won't change the fact of what happened. Eveyone handles things differently anyways. It just takes time. Take all the time in the world... <3
Allie - Congratulations deary! I knew you could do it! Kick ass at school this year!! Miss You!
Kaylee - Now that we've maturally discussed our Winnipeg plans, we'll go over it one more time before you present our case to your parents. Just cross your fingers okay because this would be the trip of a lifetime!
Mr. C - Just in case you do read this on a semi-regular basis (or it was a one time thing)... that's pretty sweet that you read it! haha and what an entry to read! I loved that entry! So here's a 'Howdy' to you and the family out there on the west coast!
Janine I hope your fairing well in the hole that is Regina. Kick ass in that class!! I gotta get going for lunch.. and then off to the first YES meeting! Woo! I missed youth group!! Minus the fact it could be interesting. It's just Aaron and me going (haha he was scared to call me yesterday) and someone else that will be at the meeting... yikes.
Later Days!
Well. I wouldn't have believed it either... but I had never heard of High School Musical until this summer (or a bit before). Apparently it reached cult status in B.C. but ask someone here? Bet you they had never heard of it.
Well I was flipping around the television tonight... and something caught my eye so I remained on the station. As I watched I finally realized that this was in fact, that movie. And although it's created by Disney for a slightly younger audience... it's absolutely a fantastic movie.
SynopsisZac Efron and Vanessa Anne Hudgens star in this Disney Channel Original Movie as popular basketball team captain Troy and smart, stunning academic Gabriella. Both shock the members of the social cliques to which they belong when they each decide to audition for the high school's musical. By proving themselves to be brilliant performers, can these two teens lead their peers towards more open-minded thinking and acceptance of one another? HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is a family-appropriate feature filled with hip music, popular dance moves, and tons of school spirit.
All in all. It was definately a feel good movie and definately worth the watch. Takes you back to highschool over again. Just over-dramasized! (But that's how we all like it right?)

Wow. Before I do my rant of the week... let me share some funny moments of this evening.
In regards to the Winnipeg trip... Kaylee and I got on this crazy idea that we could sleep out in the van the entire trip. But then I began to realize... 'what about personal hygine?" then how's about we use the trucker stops... or random peoples houses. Or the 7-11. Yup. Washing our hair in the sinks and having people walking in on us in those random places. Or 'Hi Mr. and Mrs. Hewlett... can I use your washroom?" lmao. Maybe you had to be there... but Kaylee was crying she was laughing so hard.
This one I won't explain.. but it's funny:
"Because asians ARE allowed to fly..."
Haha.
So... what we talked about today... Kaylee and I because we have a tendency to solve all the problems in the world... and we were reflecting about the people of our childhood... and where they are now.
Let's think back... way back. To pre-school. Man. That placed rocked. (at least mine did) Jello snacks... singing at Christmas, meeting all those sweet kids. (I remember I had a crush on a kid named Tyler). Pre-school. Piece of cake right?
How's about elementary school. The place where you started to grow up... meet new people and best friends. I had to say goodbye to my bestfriends in Winnipeg and come over to Saskatoon and start anew. I was terrified. I didn't want to accept the fact that I lived here... I turned down friendships! (Janine in grade three: do you want to be my friend? me in grade three: no.) But I met some incredible people in elementary school. Many of which I remain close with. But we were talking about those people we never really had touch or kept touch with. The 'outsiders' from your own little clique. Where are they? Are they in school? Have careers? Children? Married even? Living on the street perhaps. Who knows... but at that time in school... it didn't matter. Near the end of it all everyone and everything just seemed to click together. We knew we would grow our seperate ways... it was the natural process of life. Elementary school. When things weren't serious... life was care-free. There wasn't a lot of drama... heck it rocked!... But that was 6 years ago. Bet that makes you feel a little bit old huh.
Then we graduated... moved onto more bigger and serious tasks. Our futures were layed in front of us. The friends from elementary school that mattered... you remained friends with. The others went they're own way... found they're own path. But even now... after two years from the first day of grade 12... where are some of these people. Living on their own? Children? Jobs? Dead? You just don't know these things. But you work your way through... more drama... more problems and struggles... more incredible and memorable times. You make it through! You finally do it! But that day... the last day of school. You know you are most likely never going to see 90% of these people again. Ever. They will move... they will grow... they will leave your life forever. Now I'm not trying to make this sound regretful. I'm sure a lot of people aren't going to remember me. But in general it's a weird thought.
But more to the point of this rant. It's the appearences of these elementary school/high school friends in random sporatic events during your day that seems pretty damn cool to me. You see them... you remember them from the age you met. You see how they've grown... how they've either succeeded or failed. You revel in your growth as a child into an adult. But it brings back to you a sense of accomplishment and pride to know that they a) remembered you b) bothered to converse with you and c) to see them most likely happy in their own way. To me... there is nothing cooler then seeing someone... 8 or 9 years down the road... still on the same level on you... just on a different path of life.
You don't really care where they end up when your younger... but when your older... you care to know that they did it... that they made it and beat the education system and went on to lead a successful life. You may never see them again... but for that moment? You were a child again.
And it's those people that remained with you for those years... those you continued to make contact with that really matter. Those whom you lost touch with obviously didn't have a sincere relationship with you... otherwise against all odds they would have stayed in touch. Its a defining time in your life... to know really those who are your friends... and those whom are your best friends whom you love with all your heart... that make the difference.
Brittney, Janine, Liz, Kaylee, Tanys, Aeden, Kayla, Aaron, Jane and Marina. I grew up with you guys... and just for the fact that I still talk to you on a regular/semi-regular basis.. means the absolute world to me. Who knows... down the road some of these people may drift as well. But the idear that they've been with me this long? Makes me know I did something good somewhere along the line.
So for those of you that run into old classmates... maybe some you don't like... didn't like... or pretty much made your life a living hell. If you're happy where you are at that moment? It doesn't matter what they did to you. You know you did well. So no matter what you're better off. Give them a hi, grab a quick cup of coffee, relish in your childhood once again. Maybe you guys aren't as different as you thought you were. Maybe you just happened to take a different path eariler down the road...
Well upon recent conversation with some people...
This trip could really be a trip that I will remember for the rest of my life!
Brittney and I were talking today (Now.. for those of you who don't know Brittney. I met her in pre-school when I lived in Winnipeg and was my best friend. Mind you we aren't best friends, we still talk and generally make an effort to see one another when we can. She even showed up for my Papa's funeral unannounced. ) Anyways so she wants to hit up a bar with me and Kaylee and she'll get our old elementary school friends (the ones that are left with lol) and we'll have a grand old time! Sean wants to chill out, I have to see Holly at some point... and apparently have lunch with the Zingers. That and we have to make our one day trip to Minaki to endure some illegal stealing of things lol. If this is true, and we avoid trouble... this could really be the best trip ever.
Kaylee... you should be stoked. Winnipeg is gonna be a fucking blast!
Muahahaha.

If this Winnipeg trip goes as planned and we're allowed to go...
It's going to be full of legal and illegal goodness.
Frick I'm excited. It's going to be a weekend I soon won't forget!

Sunday, 3 September 2006

Here's hoping you're both in my life until the day I die.
You mean the world to me and wouldn't have it any other way.
May your life take you in the direction you want,
And have your dreams fulfilled.
Just don't lose touch.
Is all I ask.
Love you both.

It's amazing how quickly two creatures can worm their way into someones heart. I mean these dogs have been with us only a day, and already they've enlightened us with their quirks and personalities. Unfortunately we still haven't thought of names for them. Indie and Jazz were options but Jazz just sounds weird after a while... Indie may still be in the running but... we'll see.
Long story short:
It's nice to have a dog(s) in the house. It seems a little bit warmer.
Anyone think of a name that may suit them? Comment here!

Below I'm going to post some meaningful lyrics from the 'Songs Of Summer 2006'. They're not in any particular order... but the lines themselves will and do have personal meaning.

" Every single memory of the good or bad..."
" I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name..."
"I can't change everything, she said, I can't believe you're gone..."
" Follow the wind that pushes me west back to my bed..."
"When that hurt gets thrown, don't you know this life goes on..."
"I miss you so, seems like it's been forever since you've been gone..."
"Why does it always seem to be, me looking at you, you looking at me..."
"Sing along mocking bird, you don't affect me..."
"A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they've got planes and trains and cars..."
" But we've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world..."
"If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?"
"Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance, with the stars up above in your eyes..."
On a much better and greater note... even though the passing of my Nikita was only a mere month ago... we've come across the newest addition to our family. Or should I say additions. Yup you read correctly! TWO dogs will be making themselves at home here at the Shail residence. Both females... both husky/shepherd crosses. One much more shepherd, the other much more husky. Now... we don't have names for them yet but so far the names that have stuck was Indie and Jazz. But we'll see if we change our minds later on... once we get to know the dogs better. Very cool.
I put up this new layout in rival with my new hair... coloring. I've put in some black and some really really vibrant pink. Yup. I'm pretty much a fan. More black is going to go in later... woo! Other then that? Gotta plan Kaylee and mines trip to Winnipeg two weekends from now! SWEET! It's gonna be a blast... and Jamie will be going to her first bar! Party hardy! lol.
I'm going to header to bed though, because come tomorrow I'm going to be pretty worn out.
You guys should update more often... although I suppose once school happens again you will... because you'll have more stories and more time lol.
